Winter Thanks

Quick, easy and clean. Like.

Positive note of the day: Looking forward to getting crafty with the kids tomorrow. I love a good idea (see the Me Likey for today).

Charlotte and Me Challenge

Charlotte and I both made a card for her preschool teacher with this super-cute angel image from Elizabeth Dulemba. For Charlotte's card, she did everything (well, she didn't get to use my guillotine!)...colored the image, chose the papers, laid out the image and prima placement and taped it all together!

Positive note of the day: Pretty productive day with work and the house. Gonna take some time off during the holidays before these electrical diagrams I am working on fry my brain (aren't I punny?).

One of my LPS gal-pals...

...Silvia has some blogaversary candy!

Aw Honey, You Baked

This week's LPS Monday challenge is a baking-themed one...no problem for me! Since I was baking banana bread for my gal-pal Andrea, I thought I would prettify it to meet the challenge. I made a bread box container using some Parisian Breeze DP (cut to 12" x 11.5" dimensions for a regular loaf pan. Want a tut to get the gist? See Mary-Jo's. [Note: Hers are sized for mini-loaves]).

Using {Christmas Tags}, I kept it little-boy themed using the oval-shaped filigree stamp and a non-Christmas-y sentiment. Wanna play (our theme is pretty expansive on this one)? (Note: You do not need to use LPS stamps to join in.) Come on over, create something and then leave us a comment for a chance to win some stamps from Julia!

Positive note of the day: My nephews were pretty fun this weekend. All you have to do is take them to the pool for several hours and then wrestle with them for about an hour and they are out...ha ha!

Keeping Up With Tim

Wow...so many people kept up with all of Tim's 12 tags! Color me impressed...here are just a few that knocked my socks off (and don't stop with the one tag...go see all their creations!).
Should you get featured as a "Me Likey" and want to add the badge, just enter the following as a widget:

Just because I have talked so much...

...about my BFF Andrea and her baby-to-be Will, I thought I would let you know that I finally got word yesterday morning that he came! And what a monster...ha ha! He was 10 lbs, 12 oz...for a first baby, OMG! When I know she is free from the hospital and safely at home, I will need to know all the deets about her labour...it sounds like they would have needed the jaws of life to get him free! Ha ha! (She's gonna kill me when she reads this...hee hee!)

CPS145 and the Giant Snowflake...RAWR

This Week\I elected to do CPS145...what a sketch!

I had these foam snowflakes that I picked up from the dollar store as a kids' craft idea. So I decided to make one the focal of my card with some DCWV DP and a stamp from SU's the Snowflake Spot. Finished it off with some bling and rawr...giant snowflake card is on the prowl!

Positive note of the day: Pre-posting since I am still in Banff as this Sunday arises. Shoveled with the kids today who lasted longer than their typical five minutes!

Adding Blogger Gadgets to Your Header

If you want to add more gadgets to your blog header, and your blog layout is fixed so that it will not allow you to simply click "Add a Gadget", perform the following steps:
  1. From the Blogger Dashboard, click the Layout tab.
  2. Click Edit HTML.
  3. Press Ctrl-f.
  4. When the Find: search box displays, search for the code maxwidgets.
  5. When you find the code maxwidgets='#', enter a value larger than what currently is displayed. (e.g., My header currently has a value of "4" [maxwidgets='4'], so I changed it to "7" [maxwidgets='7'] just in case I wanted to play around with it later).
  6. In the same line of code, find the entry "locked='true'".
  7. Change the code to "locked=false". This will allow an "Add a Gadget" link to display.

Here's an example of the altered code:

  8. Click Save Template.
  9. Click Page Elements and now the "Add a Gadget" link should display in the header section.
ETA: As Mary Dawn reminds me, if for some reason the "Add a Gadget" link still does not display in your header section, you can drag over such a box from your sidebar to your header section as well.

Tag Blog Hop

I was so stoked when Monika asked me to join her holiday gift tag blog hop! It was so fun to participate since, as is the case with all things Tim Holtz (which is the direction I chose to take), I was really out of my element. Nonetheless, I chose to be inspired by his Day 6 tag (the image is linked to his site should you want more details) and see what happened!

The minute I saw his Day 6 tag, I knew that I had some Little Paper Shop stamps that would do the trick (in this case, {Katie Christmas} and {Pickup Truck}). I certainly did not go into anywhere near the detail he did with his tag since I relied more on patterned paper and chipboard, but it is more me that way anyway. Here she be in more detail:

Both the tree and the truck are embossed to make the images pop. I added Flower Soft to the tree for snow and some twine as Tim did. The background papers are Basic Grey as is the alphabet chipboard. The flourishes (stamped in Tea Stain distress ink) are from the Cat's Pajamas. The tag itself is just a rectangle with half of a Spellbinders label one die-cut. Wow!

Please read on and see all the holiday gift tags (these stampers are true artistes!).

Welcome to our Holiday Gift Tag Blop Hop! We hope you will see some great tags today that will inspire you. Have fun! If you've just happened upon my blog, you can start the blog hop here.

There will be some surprises hidden along the hop, but we’re not telling you where so be sure to leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!! The winners will be announced on Monday, December 14th here and on the individual blogs where the surprises are hidden.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Now it's time to hop on over to Denise's blog! Below is a master list of participants in case there is a break in the chain.

Flagrant Brag

Remember this card I made last week? It was so easy to crank 'em out since they are dingbat images from Lettering Delights. Well, I won fifty bucks in product for entering their December holiday contest. They are still drawing winners so if you have any of their fonts, make a holiday card and then upload it into their gallery for a chance to win yourself! Fifty bucks can buy a whole bunch more dingbats (or other fun stuff)! Now to spend a whole lot of time choosing what to buy next...hmm...

February Calendar Page

Here's my boy. He almost looks innocent here...ha ha! We know that couldn't be farther from the truth!

Positive note of the day: Tristan's Christmas concert was last night. It was so sweet and was one of those "this is why I had kids" moments. Afterwards, Brad and I took him to Tim Horton's for a donut so we could have a few moments of one-on-one time. After a strawberry-filled powder one, he was a mess and bouncing off the walls. Oh well...ha ha.
